Port Bair , the capital of Andaman & Nicobar Island, is situated on the eastern coast of the Andaman Nicobar Islands. It is the most picturesque place on the Island. The town is spread over a couple of hills, and the main Bazaar is called the Aberdeen Bazaar. The name of the city is derived
from its founder, Captain Blair who established a penal colony in the British regime.
Cellular Jail, This three-storied prison, constructed by the British in 1906, is a pilgrim destination for freedom fighters. This colossal edifice has mutely witnessed the most treacherous of inhumane atrocities borne by the
convicts, who were mostly freedom fighters.
