| Umed Bhawan Palace (Kota) : -
Around the turn of the century, almost all princely states seemed to have accepted that with changing times, it was probably appropriate that . they commission modern palaces away from their fortified residences where, for centuries, the rulers had lived. Abandoning the fort, therefore, the royal family of Kota shifted into this magnificent palace set within a vast estate, and where the Rajmata has continued to live. Designed by Sir Swinton Jacob, the design of the palace is European, though the decorative aspects are Rajput. Original fixtures and furnishings add to the ambience of its 17 rooms, bar and restaurant. |
