Gangtok, is one of the important hill-stations of the country. Gangtok offers a smooth blend of both tradition and modernity. Do Drul Chorten
is one of the many important attractions of Gangtok. It is regarded as the most important 'stupa' of Sikkim. Built in 1945 by Trulshi Rimpoche, head of the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism, this stupa also has a sacred gold-topped shikhara with 108 prayer wheels.

Tashi Ling is located at a distance of just 6 kilometres from the main town. The Tashi Ling is another important site to visit in Gangtok for it provides astounding views of the Kanchenjunga range.
Orchid Sanctuary, Just below the Institute of Tibetology, the orchid sanctuary cultivates a vast range of orchids, including several rare varieties.

Gangtok does not have any airport and the nearest airport is situated in Bagdogra, 124 kms away. There are daily flights to Bagdogra from the major cities of Calcutta, Delhi and other cities.

The closest railway stations are situated in the nearby cities of Siliguri that is located at 114kms and New Jalpaiguri which is 125kms from Gangtok.

Gangtok can be reached by via Siliguri. Highways are connected from Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Siliguri to Gangtok.
